So today we opened our cards that we received in our Christmas card project. The kids had so much fun looking at their cards. I thought they would enjoy a little edible craft activity as well, and since the theme of our cards was snowglobes, we made edible snowglobes. I actually came up with the idea all by myself!
They had so much fun! To make snowglobes we used clear cups, 2 large marshmallows, 1 pretzel stick, one round cookie, spoonful of frosting, sprinkles, and mini chocolate chips. I pre-bagged the cookie, marshmallows, pretzel, and chocolate chips. Then I went around and put a spoonful of frosting on the cookie for them to spread with their finger. They then assembled the snowman and added the cup to make it look like a snowglobe. They looked so cute sitting on their desks! See my other posts about the Christmas Card project. This was so much fun and such a great learning experience for my students. They learned to address an envelope, we learned to use google streetview maps, learned about different parts of an address and the importance of each for a paper envelope vs. a google map search, writing - wrote a letter to the school, learned about the different schools we received cards from, average temperatures in different states, state abbreviations, interesting facts. Such a fun way to learn about other places!! For more Christmas Card Project info. see my posts HERE and HERE.
