I learned about this amazing site safeshare.tv that lets you copy and paste a link for a youtube video to get a new link with no comments or other "junk". It's great, and really easy to use. Just copy the link for your youtube video - click share right under the video and the link pops up in a box - go to safeshare website, paste it in the box, and click generate safe link. Next, click take me to the safe view. You can then copy the URL to the new video from the address bar of your browser, and I ususally email it to myself. Then I have it to share with my students. You can also crop the video to start and stop where you want. Look right under the new link and click "customize". You can re-name the video, select a custom background, and then crop it by clicking "full". You should preview the whole video before you do this, so you have an idea of where you want it to start and stop. Play the video, and when it gets to the point you want it to start, click "beginning" then when it is to the point you want it to stop, click "stop". You will still have the option to watch the whole video in the cropped link, but it will stop at the point you selected. The new start/stop times will show up, click ok, then generate safe link in the next screen. Here is a link to a BLOG POST I ran across that gives some great ideas for using the crop feature. Holy smokes!! This is so cool! Teachers at my school are always complaining about the ads and other video thumbnail things that show up when they go to play a video on YouTube! This is so great!!! THANK YOU for sharing!
